Darren Wathen — Founder & CEO
Darren founded hovr in 2021 with a clear mission: make professional property valuation accessible, efficient and transparent for every Australian. What started as a marketplace connecting clients with independent valuers has grown into a national platform supporting SMSF auditors, accountants, solicitors, investors and homeowners across the country.
Since launching, Darren has built a working network of more than 51 independent valuers nationwide and developed deep practical knowledge of the valuation profession — from client scoping and evidence gathering through to report production, compliance requirements and professional standards.
He brings more than 20 years of executive experience across technology, governance and regulated industries — including senior roles at Singtel Optus and Call Design — alongside an MBA with a major in Entrepreneurship. That background informed the design of hovr's AI-assisted valuation agent, which combines structured property data, large language models and domain-specific valuation logic to help qualified valuers work faster and more consistently.
Darren is a member of the Australian Property Institute, PropTech Association and SMSF Association. His goal is simple: use technology to give Australians the same property intelligence that institutions have always had — without replacing the professional judgement that makes a valuation trustworthy.
