Our Story
hovr started in 2021 as a marketplace connecting home buyers with independent valuers, so a purchase didn't have to hang on a lender's "subject to valuation". It quickly became clear that the bigger, less well served need was elsewhere: SMSF trustees and auditors chasing annual market values, accountants working through CGT events, executors and solicitors needing date-of-death values, and separating couples needing a value both sides could rely on.
Those clients don't need a sales pitch or an estimate range. They need an independent, evidence-based value that stands up to an auditor, the ATO, a state revenue office or a court — delivered quickly and at a price that makes sense for the job.

The hovr Approach
Two ways to order, one standard of evidence. Choose an AI Market Value Assessment, delivered in minutes for routine reviews, or a Desktop or Full Valuation signed by a registered valuer. Full Valuations are inspected.
Verified sales, not estimates. Every value is built from comparable sales that have been checked against public and government sales records, then adjusted one by one for size, land, age and condition. Facts we can't confirm are left out rather than guessed.
A local valuer for every job. Valuer-led orders go to a panel valuer in the property's state who knows the market, and you can attach photos, plans and documents when you order so the valuer sees what you see.
A report that shows its working. Each PDF sets out the comparable sales, the adjustments, the method and the compliance statement for the purpose you ordered — a full audit trail, with no agent involved and no sale to win.

Darren Wathen — Founder & CEO
Darren founded hovr in 2021 with a clear mission: make professional property valuation accessible, efficient and transparent for every Australian. What started as a marketplace connecting clients with independent valuers has grown into a national platform for compliance valuations, supporting SMSF auditors, accountants, solicitors, strata managers and property owners across the country.
Since launching, Darren has built a state-by-state panel of independent registered valuers and developed deep practical knowledge of the valuation profession — from client scoping and evidence gathering through to report production, compliance requirements and professional standards.
He brings more than 20 years of executive experience across technology, governance and regulated industries — including senior roles at Singtel Optus and Call Design — alongside an MBA with a major in Entrepreneurship. That background informed the design of hovr's AI-assisted valuation agent, which combines structured property data, large language models and domain-specific valuation logic to help qualified valuers work faster and more consistently.
Darren is a member of the Australian Property Institute, PropTech Association and SMSF Association. His goal is simple: use technology to give Australians the same property intelligence that institutions have always had — without replacing the professional judgement that makes a valuation trustworthy.
